Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems to have a magic wand . The results of consecutive assembly elections after he assumed office seems to prove that .The results of the Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir polls are a direct reckoning to the fact that it is Modi factor which is working in these elections. The Indian voting populace seems to have their trust on Narendra Modi intact. The BJP has wrested Jharkhand from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and has reached such a position in Jammu and Kashmir that it can call the shots in a state which has a predominant Muslim population .

The BJP with the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) of former Deputy Chief Minister Sudesh Mahato has got 42 seats , 37 for the BJP and five for AJSU ,thus having a comfortable majority to rule the state for five years. In Jammu and Kashmir the BJP has got by itself 25 seats – just three seats shorts of the 28 of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which has been a ruling political party in the state for years in the past . The BJP has been a marginal player in Jammu and Kashmir with the party in the last assembly elections getting only 11 seats .This jump of the BJP seat tally from 11 to 25 is itself a major indicator as to how the Modi factor has worked in the state. A jubiliant BJP president Amit Shah has rightly said after the election results were announced that he and the party as a whole thank the Prime Minister in making this victory possible. The party president also said that these results are a clear signal to each and every one that the party has to fight the elections on the development plank and nothing else is now working .This shows that the party has distanced itself from the controversial issues which have been ruling the roost in the recent times ,rocking the parliament and the nation at large for the past few days.
